The Case Against Iraj Dismissed

The Case Against Iraj Dismissed

In a nutshell here’s what transpired…

It was around the same time last year that Iraj had a case filed against him by Ms. Swarna Lakni Seneviratne and Chinthana Mendis (son) of the late songwriter Mr. Herbert M. Seneviratne claiming that their intellectual property rights have been violated by the defendant producer and had demanded a sum of Rs.10 million. This was for the reworking of the track  ‘Mata Aloke Genadevi” in which Iraj had used samples of the same titled original on the re-working.

According to several news websites “They had demanded Rs 10 million as compensation from the producer over the track which was a big hit in Sri Lanka”, however yesterday at the hearing the Colombo Commercial High Court dismissed the case filed against the producer/rapper.

We found this strange as nothing had been filed for once the track was released almost a decade ago. There’s a lot more to this story and expect a full interview on this very soon.
