Cover of original written by Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa for the old Sri Lankan TV series “Dandubasnamanaya” (An arrow’s range). Lyrics written by Sunil Ratnayake based on a type of ancient Sri Lankan hymns by the name of “Kolmura Kavi” (Kolmura verses), sung for the goddess Pattini. It is believed the verses have a history that goes as far back as the time of the ancient demon king Ravana. Although the actual melody is said to have been kept secret through generations by a sector of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth in Sri Lanka, rumor has it, in his composition, Khema came surprisingly close to the actual melody.
