DRILL TEAM Ft. iClown & Various Artists – Cypher 2014/15
One in a while, you get a single that is nothing short of sonic brilliance – production wise , lyrically and delivery…This IS one of those singles that will be remembered for a very long time, it’s no doubt a contribution towards a music history which in the recent past has seen interesting additions to its list of original music creators .
iClown in a recent interview on The YES Home Grown Top 15 revealed to yazmin yousuf that the production for “Cypher 14/15” started in November and is far from his comfort zone of Dubstep, Drumstep & Drum N Bass and it shows in his intricate workings in the track.
RAP101: Cypher
A cypher or cipher is an informal gathering of rappers, beatboxers, and/or break-dancers in a circle, in order to jam musically together.
While you wont find a beatboxer on this monster collaboration, the vocal contribution is fierce and is on par with the standards you’d only find on a Drill Team track. This track is also proof that Omee, Fill T & Ravi Jay are not to be underestimated talent regardless of the years they’ve been in the home music scene.
Sri Lanka, if you don’t think this single is worth a share or a mention, know that you are in denial of a very simple fact – There was no international scene without a local one and The Drill team is one massive name that is currently breaking the norm and is being recognized in areas, even you wouldn’t begin to imagine.
Nuff Said, no go listen to the track
