About This Event…

The Musicmatters Collective is proud to introduce their latest artist-in-residence from Sweden, an outstanding pianist – Povel Widestrand. Povel has been residing in Berlin as a pianist and performer for the past three years. With a solid background in classical piano, Povel’s interest is currently more focused towards more spontaneous music. His trio in Berlin – the Holon Trio – won the 7th European Burghauser young Jazz Prize earlier this year. During his stay in Sri Lanka, Povel has been working on some new music with drummer Sumudi Suraweera and guitarist Sarani Perera which will be featured at this concert.

Prasantha Ru Drum Ensemble & Isuru Kumarasingheare also scheduled to perform
