News : Huge Loss To Indian Metal Scene, Nitin Rajan Dies Fighting Cancer

Article by Tejas Mundhada

The Frontman of Mumbai based death metal band Primitv, Nitin Rajan passed away yesterday night while fighting hard with cancer. A social media statement was released today by Riju Dasgupta co-founder and bassist of Primitv.

In his statement he wrote “Last night, after battling cancer for a year, my close friend and bandmate Nitin Rajan passed into the realm beyond. All of us are still stunned and shaken to the core by the suddenness of his loss, and we request that you respect the privacy of his family and those close to him at this time. Celebrate his life and his music, because that’s the best way to remember him.”

Along with being the co-founder of Primitv, Nitin Rajan had also started Domination – Deathfest. Rajan, Dasgupta and Rajarshi Bhattacharyya formed Primitiv in 2013, while Rajan also played his role in Reptilian Death. Rajan entered the Mumbai metal scene in 1998 with his band Morticide and had influences like Slayer, Metallica and many other inspiring sounds of old school metal.

The whole Indian Metal scene is shocked to hear this loss, as one of the strongest voices had left the world so suddenly. Every metalhead, close to him or not had posted on social media a photo of Rajan, statement or tracks in which he gave his thunderous voice as a tribute.

Rest in Power, Nitin Rajan.

A metalhead from India. Drummer, pig squeals makes him go on a kill spree. Pit opener and respect for all kinds of life on earth and beyond
