About The Workshop Player’s Production of Les Miserablés

The Workshop Players present an Amateur Production of Les Miserablés – based on Victor Hugo’s masterpiece, with music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, and the English-language libretto by Herbert Kretzmer.

A brand-new production of the musical that has captivated audiences in more than 40 countries for 30 years, is all set to mesmerize audiences at the Lionel Wendt – from the 1st to the 11th of October.

Directed by: The Workshop Players’ founder and Artistic Director – Jerome L. de Silva, Music Director – Surein de S. Wijeyeratne and with choreography by Shanuki de Alwis, this production will feature some of Colombo’s most sought-after thespians and singers in a 70-strong cast.

An enduring story of heartbreak, hope and redemption the show is made unique by a timeless musical score, with the ever-popular standards – ‘Do You hear the People Sing’, ‘On My Own’, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’, ‘Bring Him Home’ and ‘One Day More”. Set in 19th century France, this is one of the most celebrated and awarded shows in musical theatre history.
