The Galle Music Festival will collaborate with the Galle Good Market to feature Sri Lanka’s creative heritage of music, art, and cuisine for the whole family.

The Breakdown

⦁ Display of ancient and traditional masks and a brief presentation on the usage of masks in traditional kolam dancing.

⦁ The Sandasi Beat Drummers, an all-female group, a new generation of drummers, will showcase a wide range of traditional and contemporary drums used in their performance.

⦁Hiran Wijesekera’s ‘Dancing Costume Center’ acts as a modern traditional dance costume museum, to protect the Sri Lankan Tradition and the Culture. He preserves the traditional value in dancing costumes by keeping the authentic trends in place. He will display some of his colorful costumes at the good market for the 1st time in Sri Lanka.

*The Folk Music Conservation Library is currently recording folk traditions from around the country to ensure that there is a record of Sri Lanka’s rich and diverse folk traditions. There is great insight gained on diversity and yet the points of contact of between these traditions.
