How the funds will be used

So far – I’ve backed myself. In 2013, I’m proud to say I saved for this trip doing music: working hard managing myself as a solo performer and teaching workshops. Playing all kinds of gigs from busking on the street, to cafes, restaurants, festivals, playing in libraries (Only in Darwin!). I ran the “Looping Playshops” in Schools, at festivals, in Libraries, in Indigenous communities and even as part of musical therapy in a Central Australian alcohol rehab center. Having a lifestyle without the cost of rent or much transport means that this is a lot of money.

This is primarily an education fund. Supporting my studies of Sinhala language, Classical vocal music studies and Hatha Yoga practice. The base figure of $1900 covers approximately 18 months of these studies. Some additional items are film costs for the Mothertongue Knowledge clip, the 3x clip CM Sessions filmed in Thailand (see Hold On below) and some basic production costs to help produce my first full album. The stretch goal of $3000 covers three years of study plus these additional production costs.

Any super stretch goals of $3000+ (wo!) would go into the following based on dialogue with you – my ‘funding body’. A ‘Mothertongue Knowledge’ short film – working with Odyssee again to flesh out this small clip into a short film with more footage, music and poetry approaching 10 mins in length. A gear upgrade: My boomerang looper, whilst rock solid and super capable for its size, does have some limitations. Despite thriving on the simplicity so far – I would be interested in upgrading my gear to a looper with 5 loops and some FX.
