Decibel Exclusive : Born Lord (Drill Team)

Decibel Exclusive : Born Lord (Drill Team)

When ‘Diariya’ was released last week, it went viral just like any release from the Drill Team. We caught up with Manasick for a quick q n a on the group, the newest release and more.

DecibelLk: About the new release

Manasick: This one was totally unexpected to be honest..I wrote the bars while travelling in the bus and thought to myself ‘this one is nice but I have to give this message to the community a different way cuz if I use these lyrics to do a song, the whole message will be compressed and I cannot express the true feeling with the rhyming and flows’. This track is a single take and there’s no mixing or mastering cuz I just wanted it to be raw and pure. I didnt expected this much of feedback from people such as Mr. Sannasgala and other public figures like reporters and actors …. I’m happy to say it’s getting closer to 100k within one week.

DecibelLK: We haven’t heard from you guys for a while, what’s going on with the group?

Manasick: Well our big brother D Rex, the man behind everything is in Australia now, we struggled without him throughout last year but we managed to release a one song on the 26th of December “Usamathanaka”, so after that i dropped “Diariya” last week. I’m not in Sri Lanka anymore so it’s hard to get the team members together but we have projects planned and we are working on it. We are blessed cuz we have an amazing talented guy who can support us with anything – Ravi Jay! So even if I’m not in SL he will coordinate everything and make sure the work is getting done

DecibelLk:  What can we expect from The Drill Team in the near future?

Manasick: Well we have few tracks lined up, Chrish Vix have a new single and Ravi is releasing a new video this month “Galana Ganga”, Minol is recording his first single and I finished my new track “Man Marunu Dawasata”. Hopefully video will be release end of this month.

Don’t forget December 26th is Drill team day and just like every year, we will release a song, this time also but its a surprise! keep a tab cuz we are BACK!
